Emergency updates: Microsoft fixes faulty patch
A patch for Windows Server broke authentication via Kerberos and remote access via DirectAccess. Microsoft provides a remedy with emergency updates.
The updates KB5019980 and KB5010509 made available on the November patch day caused serious problems: Error messages then appeared with Kerberos and connections via DirectAccess could not be established. Only Windows servers used as domain controllers are affected by the problems.
It now has released cumulative and standalone updates and fixes the issues caused by the patch. After installation, the errors should no longer occur, and according to Microsoft, no changes need to be made on clients. It should also not be necessary to uninstall the faulty updates. The emergency updates are not available via Windows Update, only in the Microsoft Update Catalog.
